When copying a large number of files in Windows XP, you can answer ‘YES to All’ if the filename exists in the destination – but not ‘Not to All’. Is there a solution?
If you’re copying or moving a lot of files and you don’t want to overwrite the destination filenames, it can be really irritating to have to hit the “NO” button over and over again – particularly as right next to it there’s a button that does allow you to answer “YES” to apply to all files. This has been fixed in Windows Vista and Windows 7 (and indeed Mac OS X) – you can easily apply the relevant action to duplicates. In fact Windows XP has exactly the same function – it’s just hidden. The trick is to hold down Shift while clicking the “No” button. This will produce a ‘NO TO ALL’ effect. So why didn’t Microsoft didn’t include a ‘No to All’ option in Windows XP? Beats me! If you can beat me, I will definitely treat a hair loss prevention for my Dad..lol..
Seriously, you can ask or send me an email if you want to ask some questions pertaining to computer technicalities. I will try to answer all your questions as possible as I can. Enjoy the week everyone!
